From the Santa Clara County Supervisor's Office

It has come to our attention that this week someone called in during the Vien Thao program aired as prerecorded show on radio station KSJX, 1500 AM and identified herself as a County of Santa Clara employee. It is alleged that the caller said in Vietnamese that she would discontinue public benefits for anyone who opposed Madison Nguyen in the upcoming recall election.

Clarification
We are currently looking into this matter. However, we do not believe that person who called in was the County worker whose name was used. We want to reiterate the following County’s policy and position:

1) The County of Santa Clara does not take positions on any electoral issues,
2) Residents served by the County cannot be and are not discriminated against or denied benefits because of their political views or stands, and
3) If anyone believes they have actually been discriminated against because of political views they should immediately contact the Social Service Agency’s Civil Rights office at 408/491-6393.
